KSS was accepted onto the S&P 500. Thus the reason for the rise in price.

Sold MDCO for 1 point gain due to my own general nervousness about current market conditions. Believe it'll climb further, but I lack guts to wait. Thanks for bringing this to us Tim. Looking forward to further picks from you.

The day's economic data highlight the tightness of the labor market and the strength of consumer spending. The Labor Department's weekly tally of initial jobless claims dropped by 7,000 to 301,000, sending the four-week average to its lowest level since April 11. And July retail sales were stronger than expected. Overall they dropped 0.4%, due in large part to a 3.0% drop in auto sales related to the General Motors (GM:NYSE) strike. Excluding autos, sales rose 0.5%.
