Eric, thanks. I've been looking over the 10Q since it was posted. Net Sales 19% increase:

Gross Profit 26% increase
Backlog $14.9M with all but a small percentage for delivery prior to the end of this quarter (Sept 26)

We should also see some improvement in the G&A area given that there were some higher legal costs for a settlement and the accrual for the design, printing and shipping for the annual report.

Add all of this to the reduction in head count and the closing of NP&L, and, IMHO I think Al's stated expectation that Mylex will return to profitability this quarter is more likely than not.

Mylex Ships AcceleRAID 250 Raid Adapter; Brings High-end Raid Functionality to Mainstream Market; AcceleRAID Offers Ultra2 SCSI LVD Performance for under $800

Business Editors/Technology Writers

FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 24, 1998--Mylex
Corporation (NASDAQ:MYLX), the world's leading RAID controller vendor
in the non-captive network systems marketplace, today began shipping
the AcceleRAID(TM) 250, an aggressively priced entry-level RAID
adapter for servers and workstations.

AcceleRAID is Mylex's first RAID adapter to support Ultra2 SCSI LVD, the newest high performance SCSI standard which offers throughput up to 80 MB/sec per channel and cable lengths up to 12 meters. AcceleRAID 250 is also one of the industry's first RAID adapters to support Intel motherboards that feature on-board SCSI.

"AcceleRAID 250 offers customers high-end functionality at an
entry-level price," said Suresh Panikar, Mylex director of product
marketing. "Our OEM and distribution customers are excited about
AcceleRAID because it helps them expand the market for RAID-enabled
servers. AcceleRAID carries a retail price under $800, making the
system an affordable investment for any business-critical server or
workstation."

AcceleRAID Delivers Affordable Performance

AcceleRAID builds upon the same award-winning architecture as Mylex's DAC960PJ, the RAID controller that has broken more TPC-C
performance and price/performance world records than any competing
product. The performance of the AcceleRAID 250 is made possible by
Mylex's advanced RAID architecture, which includes an Intel i960RD 66
MHz processor, a monolithic NT driver, custom Mylex firmware and the
new Mylex 86238 RAID controller chip.

AcceleRAID Delivers Exceptional Reliability

AcceleRAID offers many of the same fault detection and fault tolerance features typical of expensive high end RAID controllers at an entry-level price. These features include ECC memory; automatic detection of failed drives; automatic and transparent rebuild of failed drives; on-line RAID capacity expansion; hot spare drive support; hot swap drive support; RAID configuration stored on both disk and in non-volatile RAM; SMART capable drive support and SAF-TE enclosure management.

AcceleRAID offers several new features designed to provide
increased ease of set up, flexibility and management. AcceleRAID's new
Immediate RAID Availability feature, for example, enables the array to
be used as soon as it is configured. Most other RAID controllers require administrators to wait up to several hours as the initialization tasks are completed.

Important management features include RAID-expansion, which
allows users to add drives to existing arrays and re-stripe data
across all the drives; RAID-migration, which allows easy online
reconstruction of data from one RAID configuration to another; and
support for copy-drive groups, which is a method of transferring the
contents of one logical drive to another in a single step.

A new BIOS configuration utility enables automatic configuration of the system, independent of the operating system and without requiring the use of extra software utilities. All of these features are part of M.O.R.E.(TM) 2.0, the new Mylex online RAID expansion tool suite. Another critical management tool is GAM(TM)(Global Array Manager), which enables the RAID system to be configured, maintained and monitored remotely over the Internet or corporate Intranet. GAM, which is the world's best-selling RAID management software, supports Mylex's entire line of RAID controller solutions.

AcceleRAID 250 supports the PCI Hot Plug standard, which enables
a system administrator to manage or replace the adapter without taking
the server off-line. In addition, PCI Hot Plug support allows additional devices to be installed without powering down.

AcceleRAID Family Addresses Mainstream RAID Storage Market

The AcceleRAID 250 is part of Mylex's new AcceleRAID 200 family of entry-level RAID adapters. AcceleRAID 250 joins the AcceleRAID 200, which first shipped in June. All AcceleRAID adapters offer support for Intel's next-generation family of motherboards (model numbers T440-BX and N440-BX) and systems (NA440BX, NC440BX & SC450NX) which feature on-board SCSI and Intel's SCSI interrupt Steering Logic (SISL).

Because Mylex's AcceleRAID adapters were architected to utilize the on-board SCSI channels of the new Intel motherboards, they
incorporate fewer SCSI components of their own, thereby reducing
manufacturing expense. The AcceleRAID 250 builds upon the AcceleRAID 200 by adding an extra Ultra2 SCSI LVD channel to the RAID adapter. Ultra2 SCSI allows for 15 devices to be attached to the AcceleRAID 250 for a storage capacity of up to 270 GB per channel and up to 810GB with 45 drives in Intel's SC450NX system.

With the addition of the Ultra2 SCSI LVD channel, AcceleRAID is an ideal entry level RAID controller for any network environment, including environments that do not incorporate Intel's newest line of SCSI-equipped motherboards.

Both AcceleRAID products plug directly into the shared PCI/ISA slot in the motherboard and provide full support for RAID 0, 0+1, 1,3, 5, 10, 30, 50 and JBOD. Both adapters support 4 MB to 128 MB of cache memory. The AcceleRAID 250 is a fully independent Ultra2 SCSI
RAID adapter and can be used in any PCI server system. The AcceleRAID
family supports Windows NT, Novell NetWare, SCO Unix and, in the near
future, Sun Solaris.

Mylex Offers Industry's Broadest Line of RAID Controllers

Mylex offers the industry's most complete line of RAID
controllers, scalable from the local LAN to the enterprise
super-server. Mylex RAID solutions span cost effective and high
performance host-based internal RAID controllers, external RAID
controllers, with all the leading disk drive interfaces -- Ultra SCSI,
Ultra2 SCSI and Fibre Channel. All Mylex products ship standard with
GAM, which enables centralized management from a single console.

Pricing and Availability

AcceleRAID 250 is now shipping to Mylex OEMs and distributors. The product carries an MSRP starting at $799. The AcceleRAID 200 has an MSRP starting at $699. Prices will vary depending on the memory sizes installed.
