This is exactly what MRVC is working on. This from their Optical Internetworking announcement (plus the Terabit router project mentioned in the Q2 CC)

"A recent breakthrough in WDM development will result in next generation Dynamic DWDM devices. These will be fully integrated with router and switching technology to take advantage of significantly higher backplane speeds and will incorporate protocols beyond Gigabit Ethernet such as OC-48 and OC-192. These products are planned for introduction in the first half of 1999. "

Seth, you are quite right in stating that the $1.74 1999 EPS estimate is very conservative. $2.00 seems quite within reach, IMO - which is a forward P/E of 9!
