"Anticipatory Downswings"..I've been asked about including 'negative' earnings reports to the newsletter. The problem here lies in the fact that even if it's negative the analysts' usually have already taken that into account in their earnings estimates.. Of course I'll still include stocks that have estimates way down from last quarter. The way to earn money here is in the 'anticipatory downswing' as opposed to the 'anticipatory upswing'...

Puts versus shorting stocks. I much prefer buying puts on the DOW than shorting stocks. Puts provides a good hedge for going long. You don't have to have any prerequisites for buying puts as you do for going short. Puts on the dow or on the internet sector, technology sector, etc.. offer a good way of gaining 2-3k a session with a relatively small amount of capital (between 6 and 12k). You have to be pretty savvy about the market internals and pretty much watch the tick throughout the 'hold' period. It's rewarding and challenging though. I've been paper trading the index options for over 4 months and now I've made some successful trades.

Including index puts/calls however on the daily watch list is not the way to go. These have to be bought in conjunction with the market climate and only in a real-time trading forum can they be 'called' properly. I do the next best thing by posting on SI when I think calls or puts are the better choice and have posted some 'buys' in time for others to enter. But there will always be a posting lag that will impede perfect timing.

Sold NOBE for 35 7/16.. I dont want to be holding any 'long' positions overnight. I'd rather get in on moving stocks in the morning or late this afternoon. This is a stock pickers market and earnings will propel those stocks with good reports.
