Bill - Call Bell South and ask them if they installed your lines using a Multiplex block or box. I'm not sure of the exact terms but do know it involves Multiplex. They do this when lines must be shared by more than one party/number/line. If there is a Multiplex, ask them to remove it. You want to be hooked up to bare copper line, not Multiplex. Phone companies will deny that this makes a difference, or as you said "When I called the phone company (BellSouth) they said they don't guarantee anything on an analog/residential line, only on ISDN." That's their way of selling ISDN lines. Another post to you mentioned a direct line from the pole to your computer. I think you probably will have that if they remove the Multiplex.
