- Lehman starts LU with neutral rating

Summary:
NEW YORK, Aug 13 (Reuters) - Lehman Brothers Thursday initiated coverage of 11
telecommunications equipment companies, citing Tellabs Inc. (NASDAQ:TLAB),
RELTEC Corp. (NYSE:RLT) and Advanced Fibre Communications Inc. (NASDAQ:AFCI) as
favorite stocks. All of the companies were given buy or outperform ratings,
except Lucent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:LU) and PairGain Technologies Inc.
(NASDAQ:PAIR), which were labeled neutral. "By almost any measure, the financial
performance of the telecommunications equipment companies has been and continues
to be stellar," analyst Steven Levy said in his research report.
