I think it was Jesus also. But for this verse.

(Mark 3:17 NIV) James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means Sons of Thunder);

Do we know why he may have given them the name Boanerges?? Could it be for the following reason?

(Luke 9:51-54 NIV) As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for him; but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem. When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, "Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?"

What appropriate names for two brothers who were ready to "call fire down" on a bunch of folks!!!! :o)

Tom:

<<Who was the funniest speaker in the Bible? >>

Jesus also. Don't worry about the speck in your brother's eye when you have a beam in your own head.

I wonder if Christ was picturing a high speed donkey accident, man rams into house , knocks the wall down and pow, a large beam hits him upside the head, embedding itself in the mans head. In a stupor the man arises, still giddy headed, staggers down the street and says to a stranger, man you have a little speck in your eye. Come to think of it , Do you think Christ would have portrayed this person as being tipsey , riding down the street on his donkey.

But you know, this story even if half true is not all that hilarious. It must have been the personality of Christ that made it that funny. Some people can tell a joke others struggle. In my opinion, Christ could really tell a joke that would make you roar with laughter.

My favorite church bulletin joke reads " The low self esteem support group will meet in the church at 7:30 PM Tuesday night: please use the back door to the fellowship hall." That for some reason cracks me up. Hahahahahah.. gregor

Dear Donald and Jane,
Alan and I have found these verses to be funny.
Exodus 4:2-3
2 Then the Lord said to him, "What is that in your hand?"
"A staff," he replied.
3 The Lord said, "Throw it on on the ground,"
Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake, and HE RAN FROM IT.
I don't blame Moses at all for I would run from that snake also.:0)
May the Lord bless you with His joy,
Nancy
