David, If you are in Rochester NY check "Accurate Technology"
716 427-0440. That store was part of the group I sold a few years ago. They are a custom screwdriver shop making systems for Kodak, GM etc and they are very knowledgeable saleswise and are part of the people that tell me that many techs ask for AMD.

On the contrary to your CompUSA experience in Albany, NY, the one in Warwick, RI, has only three or four models of K6 or Cyrix out of almost two dozen computers. I found most of the sales people pitching P-II systems to customers however.

Face it. CompUSA's problem resides in retail business. Nowadays, with plummeting prices, you can hardly make money with razor thin margins. The profit, if any, resides now in whole sale business, where high volume and low overhead is the key to success.

I can see why CompUSA may be having problems.

So can I. The Isles are cluttered. The lighting is poor, and specific software products are sometimes hard to find.
I usually go to Best Buy.
