Period. 5.5% on the 30 years bond will lokk like a bargain by the end of the year when you look at 5% and if this bear becomes a secular bear, interest rates may fall through the floor. It will be quite interesting what Greenspan will do and how fast. Usually, one could rely on him to step into the breach, but, will he and will that help? So far I count 8 or nine Asian markets making new multiyears lows, and H-K is one of them, Japan and Taiwan are going to follow (New Zealand just did as will probably Australia pretty soon). It starts to look like depression for Asia and Russia and recession for Europe and the US. South America could go either way, but things have not looked that ugly for more than 15 years now.
