This may be marginally OT, but the fact is that in almost all cases, it is much easier for a criminal to simply steal your credit card statement out of your mail box (or by scanning and listening in on your cordless phone conversation) than it is for him or her to find your CC# and password in an internet transaction, especially a secure one. Good PR on the part of Dell, though, to attempt to lower the irrational fear level.

Privacy of personal data though, is a MAJOR concern that deserves VERY strong enforcement and large, highly publicized fines for individuals, firms as well as government agencies and employees that reach into databases to profile people for their own ends.
