Marko, I just heard the same info. He's supposed to be a very good ATM guy (from FORE), but some folks felt he was a detriment to the need to support packet on these platforms. Just passing along the buzz. Fascinating. It seems LU is trying to replicate (steal?) the best parts of ASND and leave the rest...

Marko, to clarify, I also heard it was Mahesh Ganmukhi, who was the architect of the GX-550 and the follow on platform. The word is that Lucent is funding a venture for him to produce an ATM switch of some sort.

Why would LU fund a start-up company that will take god knows how long to put out a product when they could have a finished ATM switch product once they buy ASND? I'm confused by this.......
