News item on bloomberg machine concerning china...

basically, beijing's ambassador to india was quoted as saying that a weaking yen might prompt china to reconsider its policy on the yuan...

and the Xinhua, state-run rag, calls for japan to bolster the yen... saying that japan was deliberately letting its currency weaken to spur exports... yadda yadda...

not really new newz...

but I love this quote...

"If speculators wish to do something, we will deal with them very decisively"

I bet... march those guys into the square and shoot 'em... make 'em pay for the bullet...

in truth, that quote was from HK's finance secretary.... but it's more fun to attribute it to the chincoms...

***Off Topic***

Beiming,
I can't quite remember if I asked you this before, but are you the person from China, and visiting Chicago, with a relative who is there on business? I'm impressed with your overall grasp of economics and am very curious to know if you are from China? I just don't quite remember if you are that person. Don't feel you have to answer if I'm being to nosy.
Thanks,
MikeM(From Florida)
