OT : Re deferred revenue

I personally distrust any company
employing accounting tricks
that just blur reality. That's (one of
the reasons ) why I fell out of love
with 3com. That's also why I am NOT
buying Cendant or Computer Associates
at these prices.

John, >>>It could be my prejudice, but it seems like other companies get away with more, maybe they have better relationships with the analysts, maybe they *whisper* changed expectations to the analysts as the quarter progresses. Intel always seems to drop an unexpected bomb with their news, which isn't too good for the analysts that are supposed to be "experts" and "in the know".<<<

My sense is that with Craig Barrett at the helm, the atmosphere around Intel will be less Gothic but no less creative or driven. A temporary respite from Andy Grove's institutionalized paranoia could be very healthy and relations with outsiders should improve.

My prediction is that valuations will also be healthier.
