Brian: My information is limited and sketchy. I understand that the cosmetic company acquisition was for stock. When the acquisition was completed, MDCE found that not everything was included that was anticipated. The company is protected, because the exchanged stock can be held. The gravel pit operation had two hurdles. As I recall, one issue was whether the operator would complete the deal. However, there is assumed motivation on the sellers part. Folks are acting like they expect, or feel the prospects are good, for proceeding. Another question is whether the city will permit the gravel pit operation to be re-opened. It exists in or near a residential neighborhood. These sound like ordinary concerns, but they need to be considered until final approval is given. Zoning and neighbor complaints can be powerful forces to be dealt with on local planing commissions.
