thanh dao, it has to do with the old Dow theory. Since the (then rails and now including air lines and few truckers) are the things that moves goods in the economy, the failure of a new high in the Dow Industrial to be confirmed by a new high in the transportation (divergence) indicates that at least some big money think that "things" will not be moving as much as expected. The fact that this divergence occurs when fuel prices are at a low is even more ominous.

Of course, even big money (like turnips) has been known to make some major mistakes.
