Hi, Vadim

In addition to my analog line with "would-be" 56k modem, I also have an ISDN line for my other PC and it was rather painless. Costs about $70 per month for me here in New Orleans and works rather well, at 128k. I bought a 3com terminal adapter, which is essentially the modem, for probably less than $200. I forget the price.

Good thing, though, is that it works well and is very fast. It's like a dual line and can be connected also to my fax machine and a phone. So, I can pick up a phone and talk on it or use the fax without disconnecting the computer from the line. When the phone or fax are not being used, the computer connects automatically at 128k. When the phone or fax are being used, the ISDN for the computer drops to 64k automatically. The ISDN line is really composed of two separate "B" channels that are used together, or separately, automatically. It works well and was simple. Also, it connects to the phone line almost instantaneously, getting me fully connected to my ISP in about 5 seconds, pretty fast.

I just wish I could get my 56k to work properly on my analog line. To be honest, though, I think that at some point in the future, the more aggressive brokers will use private networks for connecting clients, as the internet is becoming too busy and unreliable, not the way you want to risk your capital trading.

Good luck to you!

Bill

vadim,

Could you tell me the names of the ISP's that support the dual modem, and their rates for the 2 lines?

TIA,

GM
