(FON - news) would launch a bid for the company. The stock rallied 3-7/16 to 34 in late trading as the broad market fell. Options trading was brisk, as volatility for nearby at the money options spiked to about 95 percent, up sharply from its average of around 58 percent. ''The rumor is that Sprint is going to make a bid,'' said one trader who asked not to be named. Both WinStar and Sprint declined to comment.
