Ericsson supplies D-AMPS IS-136 digital mobile phone networks to six more
regions in Russia

Vostok Mobile together with Russian partners, has decided to launch D-AMPS IS-
136 networks in six regions of Russia. The networks, to be supplied by
Ericsson, will be in operation in Bashkortostan, Bryansk, Novgorod, Kostroma,
Yaroslavl and Ivanovo by early 1999.

The deployment in Eastern Europe of digital mobile phone services based on the
D-AMPS IS-136 standard is set to grow significantly, following this decision.

The networks supplied by Ericsson will give users the very latest digital
wireless services including data and fax transmission, short message services
(wireless paging) and PrePaid services. These six regions together cover an
area of 350 thousand square kilometres, with a combined population of
approximately 10.5 million people. The regions both have manufacturing as well
as oil and chemical industries.

"The Ericsson D-AMPS IS-136 networks will be based on the latest generation of
mobile switching centers (MSC 150/300), together with radio base stations from
the RBS 884 family. The networks will initially support 11 thousand
subscribers," said Eric Franke, Vice-President Ericsson Corporatia AO.
"Ericsson and Vostok Mobile have entered into a strategic partnership that
will bring modern wireless communication services based on the D-AMPS IS-136
standard to these six regions of Russia. Network rollout will be rapid, with
commercial service launch at the start of 1999. And we are already looking
beyond the first frame agreement to continued growth of these networks in 1999
and through the millennium," Eric Franke continues.

Wireless services based on the D-AMPS IS-136 standard have been in service in
Russia since 1997, when the D-AMPS/AMPS network operating in Moscow and the
surrounding areas region has been converted to IS-136 technology.

Today there are almost 250,000 D-AMPS/AMPS subscribers in Russia. Neighboring
countries have also adopted the D-AMPS standard to provide seamless roaming
for users.

There are over 90 million subscribers using D-AMPS/AMPS networks worldwide. D-
AMPS was the first technology to be commercially available as a dual-band
(800/1900 MHz) and dual-mode (analog/digital) technology. Almost 14 million
subscribers are already using D-AMPS digital services.

Ericsson's 100,000 employees are active in more than 130 countries. Their
combined expertise in fixed and mobile networks, mobile phones and infocom
systems makes Ericsson a world-leading supplier in telecommunications.

Ericsson signs contract for the expansion of BT's FLEX@

Ericsson and British Telecom (BT) have signed a contract for the expansion of
BT's FLEX@ high speed messaging network and the upgrade from 3,200 bit/s to
6,400 bit/s FLEX@. This is the third expansion order signed between BT and
Ericsson and the planned network will be the largest in Europe.

Altogether, Ericsson has installed more than 500 base stations including more
than 2,000 COMPACT 9000@ transmitters in the BT network. The latest order
includes more than 100 new base stations including two or four COMPACT 9000@
IV transmitters each and the relocation of more than fifty of the existing
base stations.

Existing base stations already transmit FLEX@ at 3,200 bit/s mixed with POCSAG
on two of the existing four channels. The new network upgrade gives BT
migration route to FLEX 6,400 bit/s mixed with POCSAG on those two channels.

Due to stringent requirements for tighter specification on radio network
planning for FLEX 6400 bit/s, the new network will require additional sites
and resitting some of the existing sites together with reconfiguration of some
of the existing base station aerials.

With mirrored central sites and dual redundant satellite uplinks, together
with a Teleport connection, Ericsson has designed BT's distribution network to
cope with all disaster recovery scenarios. The standby site is able to
automatically take over in the event of an emergency at the main paging
center. BT has also implemented Ericsson's Zone Backup Control system, which
offers the availability to restore satellite data on an individual, zonal or
network wide basis - resulting in extremely high network availability.

In the new contract BT will be carrying out the radio planning for the
network. Ericsson will have responsibility to provide turnkey solution
involving new sites acquisitions, existing sites relocation, existing aerials
reconfiguration, installation of new aerials and satellite dishes and two
channel base stations. Ericsson is also responsible for the overall program
management.

Ericsson's 100,000 employees are active in more than 130 countries. Their
combined expertise in fixed and mobile networks, mobile phones and infocom
systems makes Ericsson a world-leading supplier in telecommunications.

Ericsson launches tender offer to buy preferred shares in Brazilian subsidiary

Ericsson has today launched a tender offer to acquire the preferred shares
(non-voting rights) of its listed subsidiary Ericsson S.A. in Brazil. The
offer is made through the wholly owned Ericsson subsidiary Sielte S.A. in
Brazil.

Ericsson at present owns 95% of the voting shares and 51% of the total shares
in Ericsson S.A. If the bid is accepted by all preferred shareholders,
Ericsson's share of Ericsson S.A.'s capital, will increase to about 99%.

The Brazilian telecom market is characterized by high growth and price
pressure due to the lively competition among international telecom suppliers
and operators, something, which has increased during the ongoing
liberalization of the market.

The background to the offer is to give Ericsson S.A. a competitive position to
act fast and with flexibility within a global and seamless Ericsson
organization on the growing globalized market. Ericsson S.A. will remain
listed in Brazil.

The tender offer carries a fixed price of R$ 37.11 per thousand shares. This
price was set representing a premium of 55% over the last closing price of R$
23.90 and a 53% premium over the average price of the last 90 days. The total
number of outstanding preferred shares is 20.2 billion. The total offer
amounts to 749 MR$ equivalent to approximately 640 MUSD.

Shareholders willing to accept the offer should tender their shares at the Sao
Paulo Stock Exchange on September 2, 1998. The offer will remain open until
September 16, 1998. JP Morgan is advising Ericsson in this transaction.

Ericsson has been operating in Brazil for more than 100 years. Net sales in
1997 was 1.25 BUSD. Ericsson has more than 2,200 employees and a good market
position in both the fixed and mobile systems area.

Ericsson's 100,000 employees are active in more than 130 countries. Their
combined expertise in fixed and mobile networks, mobile phones and infocom
systems makes Ericsson a world-leading supplier in telecommunications.
