Well, I saw the CNN Show and here are my impressions.

A lot of children are going to get pretty 'peeved' at their parents for dropping this device on them without warning.

A lot of under-age children are 'closet voyeurs' and this device is going to curtail their curiosity, at least when viewing TV at home.

A lot of children who want to keep on viewing South Park and whatever else are going to spend more time at 'friends' houses.' This is going to cause greater deviant behaviour (Canadian spelling) amongst that group which is so inclined. An identifiable deviant group will emerge because of the V-Chip.

Parents and kids will probably become 'closer' in those houses where communication is well-entrenched because the two camps will learn to see the need to respect each others' freedom of choice.

Those are just a few feelings I got from the Show. The parents loved it... the kids hated it.

The very last statement by the CNN announcer was that the device was going to take hold (no time-frame speciified) and that those who marketed it well would make money.
