John, I checked out that thread and I also contacted my research analyst. I've learned that there is indeed a so called "floorless" convertible vehicle. In the trade it is called a Serial Convertible.

HEC, my interest here, does have a Series F preferred issued on April 9, 1998 with a due date of April 9, 1999. The convertibility of the issue is based upon the market price of the stock at the time of the conversion, subject to certain limitations. (Please see SEC Filings - www.harkenenergy.com - pg 8 of 25 in S - 3 filing with the S.E.C. on June 26, 1998.
