Monty; Well very few of them beat the index, yet for short periods
many of them do, it's almost the only way to play the small caps.
I play with the no loads and no fee ones. They have cycles but are safer than just having a few stock picks.
The indexs you can buy and sell , and at times short if you want
and you have the advantage of day trading and putting in stop orders.
While they may gap up or down at the open it's not any thing like
being in a stock that gets took out behind the barn after hours
and is given a huge hair cut. If you can spot a trend and just
play it these are hard to beat. 90% of the pros can't beat them.
