It used to be the case that a market cap of $1 billion was unimaginably large. Over the years that figure has gradually risen. It was not so long ago that a market cap of $100 billion was unthinkable. Today there seems to be similar disbelief that market caps of $1 trillion could be possible, but it should be clear that this figure will fall too sometime next century. The only question is when, not if.

Will MSFT join the "teracap club" of the 21st century? Quite probably. I think most would agree that if any companies will do it, MSFT would be on anyone's list of potential candidates.
