Remember, we are talking Canada here, not the US. I was told about the one-party consent by a cop. As I was told, there does not have to be a warning, nor an audible beep. The only restriction, as I recall, was that the person taping had to be a party in the conversation. Are there no Canadian lawyers that post to SI that might give us an opinion?
