Yep, they do things unusually over there. When I was last on the mainland nearly a decade ago, they actually did an inventory of all valuables, including cash. When you departed they did a reconciliation and asked for explanations on all the changes! Pretty easy to get blindsided in that kind of environment.

Mike Burke seems convinced China will not devalue, but I'm not so sure they have enough fingers and toes to plug all the leaks. -g-
