Greta,

Russia's economic problems, in my opinion, are brought about due to politics...Yeltsin is not going to let the ruble float if it hurts him politically...I personally think Russia's economic problems are totally different than was we are seeing in the eastern countries...they seem to stem from poor economic practises...the Japanese are impacting everyone there...the paper loans that the banks in Japan have been extending are coming back to haunt them....double set of books...overvalued land....but.....I guess I see a whole set of circumstances coming to pass over the next year on a worldwide basis...like dominoes....each country impacting another country, whether it be loan defaults..imbalances in trade...or currency flucuations....I am a little worried about the whole scheme of things...and what about the EEU? and the Y2K impact....so much to look at....

Sorry, just musing this morning....listening to everyone...reading threads.....so many opinions....food for thought....
