I'd like to see computers and servers act the same way our TV's do.
Turn it on and there's the picture. Not wait forever for things to open, and to travel around inside the sites.

As with all benefits, there is a downside too. Soon all new PCs will have a sleep mode (kind of like laptops) so when you shutdown it really just goes to sleep. The downside is twofold. One is that the machines and operating systems are so complex and updated so frequently that they are unstable over the long term. The machine is more reliable if it is rebooted once in a while. The other part of the downside is that a sleeping machine may not be in a stable shutdown mode if you experience a total power failure. These often occur in the middle of the night as the power grid connections are rerouted. This feature should be coupled with automatic disaster recovery to get a truly convenient machine.
