It certainly does, particularly at the $1299 selling price which, given the demand, Apple is likely to maintain for a while.

Remember all those articles a few months ago that speculated Apple would quickly lower the iMac's price to $999 (below the magic $1000 barrier) after the initial sales spurt? Apple has substantial margins at the current iMac price.

Apple has forecast shrinking margins over time, a clear indication it's ready to price the iMac more aggressively when sales momentum warrants. (Just before Christmas perhaps?)
