Been following westrend for a while, not in the stock, but made a pile of money on the big runup, sold out at near high. Has anyone thought that maybe they want the share price to decline so that they can buy more shares for a future promotion. I mean seriously how hard is it to give your accountant info for him to organize? It can be said that the share price has been hurt more by not releasing anything than by issuing bad financials.

It will be interesting to see the insider trading reports.

Leigh - the BCSC won't halt trading AFTER a news release. I mentioned in a post before that when a company is late in filing financials, they are given an arbitrary grace period before the stock is halted. Since WRN was legally delinquent for over a month, it seems the BCSC was pretty lenient with them.

A stock CAN be halted prior to a news release, but this is done by the particular exchange, not a securities commission. This type of halt is done for a short period of time - ie. a company tells the exchange they're putting out a release later that day or the next day which is some sort of unexpected news - a big exploration find, profits / losses that are much different than expected, etc. - that will have a major impact one way or the other on share price. Then once the news is out for a short period, a couple of hours maybe, the stock will begin trading again.

In WRN's case, the stock won't start trading until all the regulatory filings have been completed. Also note that putting out a news release does NOT constitute all the regulatory requirements, so it's possible we could see a news release and it would still be some time before the halt is lifted.
