Thank you. I found out that 6 of the 7 laser companies that make the excimer laser pay visx a one time fee for every laser placed
internationally, about $20,000. However, in the U.S. visx expects
to be paid for each procedure. The amount I don't know. Atci
seems to feel that they can beat visx on the patent, however they
plan to place the lasers for nothing, maintain the lasers and charge
$400 per procedure. They then plan to escrow $250 pending the outcome of any litigation with visx. It seems to me that visx is clearly in the drivers seat with its patent on the excimer laser.
Snrs, clearly, if ltk becomes the treatment of choice for hyperopia,
presbyopia, would seem to have a similar potential.
