From the Seattle P-I, Saturday, August 15, 1998

TCIs fiber optic upgrade of its cable system in Seattle must be completed by mid-January of next
year. The network presently serves bout 20,000 in West Seattle. The next area to receive the
fiber-optic upgrade will be the Green Lake area - must be completed by January 20. TCI will start
working this fall on fiber optic upgrades in areas of King County outside Seattle with initial efforts
focused on Auburn and Kent, which should be completed by the middle of next year. All fiber optic
upgrades outside Seattle should be completed in the next 3 years according to Steve Kipp from
TCI. TCI has 130,000 customers in Seattle and 700,000 outside the city from Tacoma to Everett.

If you have information about the current state of other fiber optic upgrades, I would like to hear from you.
