Any integration involve some bloodshed, I was in a kind of restructuration and I was crush in the process.

Don't you think that in almost all big companies their is some kind of bureaucracy. If DELL is not that kind of organisation so they are not big enough.

You are right, the integration ha barely begun, but we have started to get some return from the merger so, close your eyes and imagine pile of money and bigger market shares when the process will be over.

I suspect that your a bit jallous about CPQ-DEC. Don't be afraid and get some CPQ shares, we will accept you in the family

Luc

Re: CPQ service

CompUsa offers $159 3- year on site service plan for CPQ
and probably everyone else too. However, be sure to read the fine print on the service contract. DELL includes a great service plan in their purchase price. With CPQ you have to pay separately for the plan.

Radioshack is offering 3 and 5 year service plans for $129 and $250. You drop your computer off at their store and then pick it up 7 to 9 days later. These plans are for their CPQ Presarios.

I asked the Radioshack salesman for the total cost of the system and it took more than 10 minutes for him to come up with the total price.
Radioshack is including Correl software as a distinguishing feature over the regular CPQ machines. This is a $10 value! Whoopee.

Lot of coupons and rebate programs for internet usuage. CPQ is still selling its monitors separately. The Radioshack salesman said that
once you order the machines that you get delivery from the warehouse in 7-9 days. The warehouse is in Texas. It was impossible to tell how you configure one of these machines for a BTO model.

Summary: CPQ has a long way to go to begin to even approach DELL's BTO model.

DELL's prices for comparable systems with service and
similar features is about 8-15% lower than CPQ.

WBC,
Word on the street is that CPQ's board agrees with what you are saying and is negotiating with Dunlap as we speak. The only sticking point is the option package, an announcement could come as early as this weekend....
