I had always thought that OEM windows was around $60 US$. It has crept up froma few years ago when dos licences were in the $15 range.
Does anyone know what a major like Dell or CPQ pays for Win95/98?

Bill

Matt,
You expect a Keyboard, mouse and speakers for that price? <VBG>

I expect Microcenter expects to sell some service plans to compensate for service costs.

OK...let's try this again...
MediaGX and board...70
16 meg RAM 10
Keyboard 7
Mouse 5
Speakers 5
Modem 25
CDRom 35
Box 15
Assembly 25
S&H 15
HD 1.6gig 75
Floppy 8
OS 15
----------------------------
Total 310

((399-310)/399)*100=22.3% profit margin.

I really don't think Microcenter would attempt anything like this unless they could get 20% margins. I know small vendors at shows that sell AMD-233 systems w 1 gig HDs for under $375. I also know what they can get components for so my prices aren't too out of line.
