Papi, It kind of sounds like you are also trying to call the bottom. What if the March rally actually stayed on course and was the real thing, you would have not been invested in this sector. You were right by not buying in at that time , but you were right because you called that it wasn't the bottom. So we are all really trying to call the bottom, aren't we? I agree with you 100% that nobody can call a bottom, but even the people who like the sector LT and are waiting are in reality trying to call the bottom.

What will it take for you to know when to come back into the sector? How will you know when it is the bottom or past the bottom? How did you know that the March rally did not really signal that we had past the bottom?

I am just confused on how people say don't try to call the bottom, but once the stocks are up 30%, maybe these same people say, well this is just a "March-like head fake." But then it turns out they go up another 30% and then they might say well it's too late or I am going to wait for some profit taking to establish my positions. All I really am saying is that it's just as hard to wait for some type of confirmation to tell you we are past the bottom as it is in just saying we are at the bottom.

What signals are you waiting for and were any of these signals present in March but ended up being wrong? If the signals come to fruition, but the stocks are up 50%, do you have the discipline to still get back in?

Also, the current situation is so different than the 1980s it's not even worth commenting on.

Elmer

Papi riqui: Nice of you to come down from Olympus and share your insight and wisdom with us. Have to agree with most of what you say, and it hurts to have to admit it. Why don't you share with us some of your favorite stocks? Or does this quote from your last post say it all?>>>>>>I have followed this sector since January but have yet to take a position in any stock.
Yes, I missed some good opportunities in the March bear rally because I was too
CHICKEN and too late.<<<<< (caps added)
Regard, Rich P.S. Must feel nice to be both right and anonymous!!
