Formosa Industrial Computing, Inc. has announced the latest DVD8300 decoder board, which is designed to be a DVD solution for personal computers. The Sigma Designs' EM8300 REALmagic DVD/MPEG-II/MPEG-I decoder IC has been incorprated into this DVD decoder board.

Formosa's Golden Melody DVD8300 decoder board can offer the best video quality and is compatible with any VGA card. You can also connect the DVD board to an NTSC/PAL TV via S-Video connector.

Formosa's DVD8300 decoder board, bundled with a 2-speed DVD-ROM drive as an upgrade kit, can provide users with home theater experiences utilizing high-resolution MPEG-II video and DolbyTM Digital (AC-3) surround sound. Users can enjoy DolbyTM Surround sound with the Dolby Pro Logic Compatible output offered by DVD8300. If you have a DolbyTM Digital (AC-3) decoder amplifier with S/PDIF input, you can further enjoy multi-channel surround sound with up to 5.1-channel soundtracks.

Here's an article on CVD vs. Super VCD in China. It's in Chinese, but they devote a lot of space to CVD...........................

Idall is marketing a CVD player. All old VCD players are branded C-Cube. The C-Cube brand is red with 5 white rays extending upward. It reminds me of the Excite logo. Idall's pictures load slow. C-Cube brand is the black square over the VCD players. Doesn't look like the CVD player has been approved for the C-Cube brand yet............................
