As a matter of professional responsibility, I would imagine that Compaq must be one of the pieces. I wouldn't reference a specific business unless I had a business relationship with the company in question. I wouldn't want even one potential viewer of an interview to misinterpret an "example" as being a true event. The appearance of impropriety is just as bad as the event itself. So it would seem to me that the reference to Compaq was more than a coincidence. I'm also beginning to think (under the same line of reasoning) that something might be brewing with Amazon, and AOL too. Pure speculation!---but it's fun to read the TWST article over and over.
