Ali, Re: It looks more and more that Intel has turned into a
sort of dumb foundry, just a simple lithography

Luckily, it can still make a little bit of money ;-)

We Chinese like to say
"those dumb stupid people usually have better luck"

It looks more and more that Intel has turned into a sort of dumb foundry, just a simple lithography, and is totally incapable to debug their own CPU and chipsets: look at Xeon/450NX scandal, all these system bugs that require to block or reload half of the microcoded Pentium-II instructions and dogs the performance...

That's say that it is the result of technology interruption or cut off from DEC. HP has been guarding their technology from Intel very well too. The days for the copycat are getting worse everyday. Scandal is quite a good word to describe Intel technology failure.

AMD is in a very nice position to explore new technology to increase chip performance on their own while Intel has to depend on HP to develop the future processors for them and to "borrow" new technology from whoever has better innovations without pay or notices.

Ali - Re: " Intel stole the DEC technology how to built microprocessors. "

Intel stole nothing.

If they did, they would have been punished.

Instead, Intel was rewarded with an 8 inch wafer fab at discount prices and a complete StrongARM product portfolio.

DEC did this because of Intel's strong countersuit. Everybody knows this.

Everybody but you.

Winners win, Ali.

Unlike you.
