I also have wondered about that, and your question was one I had hoped to put to HB while he was here. Unfortunately, he stayed in town only briefly and has been in the bush almost continuously up until his departure this morning. He and LB are scheduled to return next Wed. so I hope to catch them between their Sched. and bush flight that evening.

The waters where they believe their pipes lie are very shallow and may not accommodate a barge. Regardless, they have spent the summer doing some sampling but an awful lot of camp winterization. Everything is insulated and systems and equipment backed-up in anticipation of an early cold start next January. I don't envy the drillers.

Apparently it is remote but possible that should a land target be found through sampling this Fall, SUF could still drill it, but there is no confirmation that this is the situation. The drills they will have on hand next winter will also allow delineation and mini-bulk sampling should the pipes be located, prove diamondiferous and potentially economic. Since SUF do most of their own field sample testing in their lab in Oldtown, they can make initial determinations fairly quickly, and Lakefield is fairly speedy now that they are not quite so inundated and have increased their processing capacity. SUF's dense media separation system is really quite interesting to watch. Incredibly simple almost elegant in its simplicity. They use a heavy liquid with a specific gravity identical to the pyropes, chrome diopsides and illmenites and run their geochemical concentrate 50/50 grain I believe through these liquid columns. As the various mineral grains find there own levels according to their specific gravity the pyropes, chrome diopsides and illmenites work their way to the bottom like gold in a gold pan. If that particular sample has any you will see these burgundy, orange and kelly green crystals and fragments tumbling just below all the other grains and above the clear column of the specific gravity liquid. The more prevalent the grains, the closer to source they were taken from and of course larger versions and eclogites would have been noted in the larger screened material.

Bottom line is that the multiple differentiated geochemical trains exhibit abrasion characteristics indicative both of short transportation and are sourced from highly diamondiferous kimberlites reflecting good preservation and larger crystallization conditions. Some trains are indicative of smaller pipes and a few suggest larger ones and the diamonds recovered from the Yuri last fall were clean, clear, perfect dodecahedrons.

As you know, these kimberlites are not exhibiting typical EM characteristics that allow them to easily be differentiated from the surrounding background signals, which is of course, the main reason why they have been so hard to find. My own pet theory on that has to do with that Yuri kimberlite clay SUF discovered. My thinking is that it is just one patch of what must be a vast thick layer at the bottom of the lakes and marshes (depressions) in and around these kimberlites. It makes perfect sense when you think about it. Four to twenty feet of eroded blue/green kimberlite clay lining the bottom of all the depressions in the area and derived from what appears to be a cluster of 14 kimberlites. Such clay would exhibit the same general EM characteristics as its source thereby masking the mother and sisters with a veil. I still think SUF should try ground penetrating radar which would see through all that and show any intrusive structures with different densities from the host rock, but they are the experts. They seem to think that once they have found one, they can use that pipe's subtly signature characteristics to suggest which other similar signals should be pipes. Keep you fingers crossed.

One last thought on this subject. If this clay is thick and wide spread and quite obviously contains concentrations of eroded diamonds as the Yuri did, SUF (we) have another potential (gravy) source that may prove to be a highly profitable and an inexpensive source of cash flow when any pipes to be mined are stripped of their overburden.

This should be an exciting winter/spring drilling program and I am chaffing at the 4 1/2 months before it gets underway.

Anyone who has been able to accumulate at these levels is going to be a very happy camper between what I believe is yet to be discovered both at Klipspringer and Back/Margaret Lake.
