I got Western Digital to cross-ship me a disk when one started making bearing noises; two days later I transferred the data and shipped it back. Manufacturer's 3-year warranty, BTW. My total cost: 4 bucks to ship the bad drive back. BUT I don't think you and I are typical. It could be worth it, but that's an individual evaluation. And if you're out to save trouble, it has to work smoothly or you haven't accomplished your objective. Spots
