Article about Y2K in today's San Jose Mercury News. Local and business section. Local section talks about city of San Jose and county of Santa Clara's preparations and problems. Wednesday is Year 2000 Awareness Day. State legislature checking with local governments on readiness. "The most entrenched hurdle lies with so-called 'embedded' chips....." Business sections talks about IRS tax breaks on Y2K fixes. Instead of the normal 3 year period for the write off, can do it in 1. However, some loopholes, yada,yada....
