Anybody catch this sage comment from last night's Nightly Business Report Market Monitor guest Mark Lebovit:

KANGAS: OK. You said things should improve by the end of the year. Do you have a number on the Dow that you're looking for?

LEIBOVIT: Well, in theory, we would be back to where the year started. Or perhaps, a little higher, according to the model. If you look at the model carefully, it doesn't look a Dow upward explosion 10000. But you know, if we get big volume, Paul, we're going to be there."

How's that for leaving yourself some wiggle room?

Bob, sure agree with your posting. I think the fall-out of the Clinton situation may result in his becoming a "lame duck" for the remainder of his term.

Bob: It has been reported that Ed Yourdon-- co-author of the recent
tome, "Time Bomb 2000," and editor of "American Programmer
Magazine"-- has moved to the hills outside of Taos, New Mexico.
The report has it that Yourdon has laid up a year's worth of pro-
visions and has taken other steps to weather the worst of what
the Y2K bug may have to offer. Ed Youdon's popular work was
cited by Bob Brinker some while ago as an outstanding treatment
of the Y2K subject.
