gsingh, Although our famous naysayer puts in quite a bit of effort here there and everywhere, I suspect that his influence on LGND's price is minor. He does clog up the boards, and many stop reading because the don't want to wade through all of the off topic posts, but the sector's failures and overall decline have had a much bigger impact than any posting.

Does anyone find it curious that our famous SI naysayer "just reads but doesn't post on Yahoo" and the famous naysayer on Yahoo does the same on SI (just reads but can't post because he's not an SI member), but they both post at the same time and say the same thing on their respective threads, including posts that say that anyone who has anything positive to say about LGND is really me :-). Our SI naysayer made that comment today Message 5505671 because a couple of posters, who actually use their real name messages.yahoo.com@m2.yahoo.com messages.yahoo.com@m2.yahoo.com , began posting this afternoon when I showed up on Yahoo and they are rather confident that DrowningAtLakeLigand is tonyt DrowningAtLakeLigand just notified the Yahoo thread that I was suspended from SI because I hadn't posted publicly this morning: messages.yahoo.com@m2.yahoo.com

Paul Maier should be much busier this quarter and next. Although 2Q seemed a nit iffy, IR indicated that 3Q and 4Q would be considerably better. Earlier I gave a bit of background on Ligand's financials which looked worse for 1H '98 than they should for 2H '98. I did get a chance to look at some 2Q estimates, and found consensus of losses ranging from $0.35 to $0.38, so the loss of $0.45 wasn't that far off the mark.
