John, i have no Level II access
and am just a very interested observer.
I wanted to see if there was any size pushing the market down. There really wasn't.
Also no evidence of significant buying in size at the bottom except for a couple of 10K blocks which may include a double report.
In past downdrafts over the last few months there was volume buying in size to stop downtrends.
Shorts are saying they're in to see the share price cave in completely
(if you believe 'em :) )

Finally, to answer your question:
the percentages refer to the number of entries on the time & sales printout...like a histogram
0-999 54.4% of entries
1000 24.1%
1001-4999 17.7%
5000-9999 3.1%
10,000+ .7%

nearly 80% of the trades between 10 and 3 comprising 2 million volume
were less than or equal to 1000 shares. Obviously, in terms of dollar volume the 10K+ blocks make up a larger % of "dollars traded".
