Hi Eric. I kind of favor the $100 product with the installed base. Why in the world would I want a $250 product that is said to add a feature that already exists on virtually every PC? Interesting that Sony doesn't appear to be geared up to support the one machine without a floppy. By the time HiFD shows up (if it does), I'd bet OEMs will be able to include ZIP built-in AND floppy for much less than Sony's entry.

FWIW, I was in two computer super stores yesterday. You can't find a Compaq 5030. Manager at one store told me this is hottest selling unit ever. I suspect Compaq's direct (higher margin) sales are phenomenal.
