Small portfolio (20 stocks) a tremendous single stock risk?

IMO, 20 seems like enough stocks to control single stock risk, as long as they are well chosen. Need to minimize covariance (not too many high techs, retail, etc.), cover market risk with a few shorts, puts/calls on market indices, buy sector indices. Also trust in p&f timing, and make strategic moves to cash.
