That depends on how little battery life you are willing to put up with. Thin film displays eat their share of power as well.

I would guess 333 MHz may be possible for Intel/AMD products.

The next gain will be Intel's Dixon - which will combine 256K L2 cache on the Pentium II die - and thereby eliminate the 512K bytes external L2 cache. The net power savings should allow 333 MHz - or even slightly higher.

Intel should have 0.18 micron Coppermine devices out in the first half of next year that will run at much lower voltages and power - allowing higher speeds as well.
