There is an expression that we used at ABC that I think pertains to this and many posts like it here: Picking fly sh*t out of pepper. You are getting caught in the minutia trap.

If I were a short I'd be venting about the mavens that misguided me into going and staying short. Don't blame the sell-side analysts for liking the stock. The institutional money (which got the stock to where it is today) does its own research anyway.
