Haven't there been US buyouts of British companies in the energy sector? With an absence of British government interference in that direction, isn't the US to reciprocate by leaving it alone? But there was some noise about BT taking MCI wasn't there? Was it foreign ownership of the internet backbone? I suspect you are correct that at least a few politicians in the districts most affected will seize on the opportunity to make polital hay of the event. If one or more of those districts are "hotly" contested, I suppose the potential exists for the noise to reach a larger audience.
