Gold Standard Second Quarter Report 1998

Dated July 13, 1998

Excerpts from Presidents Letter
Scott L. Smith

"One of the more positive developements occurring last quarter was the divesture of our controlling interest in Big Pony Gold, Inc., a subsidiary company of Gold Standard. Big Pony Gold was originally formed to accomondate the company's geologists involved in acquiring gold properties in the country of Uraguay. Effective April 01, Big Pony Gold officially became Pan American Motorsports, Inc. Coincidently, Pan American Motorsports acquired 100% ownership of the ten-year old American IndyCar Racing Series. Gold Standard still owns 2,566,667 shares in the newly organized company. Presently Pan American Motorsports is traded on the OTC Bulletin Board under the symbol PONY and has been quoted in the 30 to 50 cents per share range over the past month. As indicated on Gold Standard's Balance Sheet, the Pan American stock holding is carried as an Equity Investment rather than Securities Available for Sale. This is because Gold Standard still owns approximately 25% of Pan American Motorsports. We are very confident that this change in direction from gold exploration to IndyCar Series ownership will be highly beneficial. We anticipate that Pan American's success will be reflected positively in Gold Standard's stock holdings.

In the above mentioned transaction with Pan American Motorsports, all the Big Pony properties and equipement in Uraguay were transferred to Gold Standard."
