The Spec sheet for the IMAC states:

Internal 4GB IDE hard disk drive

Quantum has 1 4GB drive:

Bigfoot TX 4000 QM504000TX-A
This is a 5 1/4", 4GB, ATA-interface hard disk drive.

WDC has 1 4.0GB drive:

AC34000 4.0 GB

Its interface is 40-pin EIDE. As the width of the DD package is only 4 inches, it's probably safe to assume that the disk platters are 3.5".

Unfortunately, I don't see enough info to determine whose disk is or isn't in the IMac.

I would tend to guess the WDC drive as it's physically smaller, WDC is hungrier for the business, and the IDE spec for the IMAC would use a subset of the EIDE WDC AC34000's capability.

Are there any better informed people out there who can tell us with certainty?

Ian.
