Ah, I see, 'floorless" is a term coined by Zeev. No wonder I couldn't find it in any of my textbooks.

"Floorless" no limit on conversion. Does that mean I can buy a convertible and convert it into any number of shares that I wish to at my convenience?

Shorting against the box is a valid investment strategy. I either own the shares or a vehicle that is convertible into shares. When I short I lock in my profit. Therefore, if the stock goes to the moon, I only get the profit I have locked in and I give up any upward price appreciation. Done every day.

Conversely, if I short vs the box when the stock is below the conversion price I lock in a loss. Pretty dumb thing to do, that's why nobody does it.

"Death Spiral" nope, that's not in any of my textbooks either. Maybe somebody can help define that term.
